The UN Special Representative for Myanmar, Julie Bishop, presented some of her findings on the conflict in Myanmar and the humanitarian needs of civilians, before the member states resumed their discussions.
During the discussions, Jonathan Shashra, the US Special Representative for the United Nations Economic and Social Council, stressed the need to engage with the AA on the repatriation of Rohingya who have fled Rakhine State.
The US also called for both the military and the AA to focus on protecting civilians and respecting human life.
